week 10

 Week 10 – Friday 10th November 2017

 Hello Everyone!

And so, we have returned to school after a lovely mid-term break, refreshed and ready to face the next hectic 7 weeks.  The last half term was very productive in terms of work ethic and the remainder of this term will be no different.  Already we had GCSE Science exam modules along with assessment feedback, the issuing of interim reports, primary links, extra-curricular activities in particular on-going rehearsals for Sister Act etc and on top of our core business of teaching and learning.

There was success on the football field this week for the MacLarnon Team and Year 8 who won through to the semi-final of the Oisin MC Grath Shield – well done boys and your coaches – a great achievement!  Commiserations to Chloe Tracey and Nicole Conway (both Year 11) who participated  in Round 2 of the Ulster All Stars but who were up against it by a much older age group – but both girls have a very bright future ahead of them – chin up girls!

It was great to welcome onto the stage this morning a large cohort of pupils from Years 13 & 14 who received full attendance certificates for September & October – well done boys and girls – keep up this great effort. Post 16 students also attended a very hard-hitting Road Safety Roadshow in Dungannon on Wednesday – you can never be too careful whilst on the road!

Year 10 pupils had a couple of very enjoyable days in the Gaeltacht in Donegal during the week visiting Glenveagh National Park, Teach Leo (which I still remember from Rann na Feirste) and Dunfanaghy.  Well done everyone and your teachers – a great time was had by all.

Our Primary Links programme is working very well and yesterday Mrs Gillespie and Mr O’ Boyle visited a number of our partner schools to explain the forthcoming work to be undertaken within the Eco Art Club Cluster.  I am looking forward to seeing the creative ability of the pupils in using recycled materials whilst also making a positive change in their environment.

Monday 13th is World Kindness Day so take the time to smile or say something nice to someone you meet.  Also next week is Anti-Bullying Week with the theme ‘All Different: All Equal’. Check out our website for good advice and please ‘put a stop to bullying right now!’.

Have a lovely weekend
