Week 13

 Week 14 – Friday 1st December 2017

 Hi Everyone!

Showbiz success last week!  Football success this week! (as I write this on Saturday 2nd)

Year 8 were crowned winners of the Oisin Mc Grath Shield on Monday defeating St. Mary’s Christian Brothers Grammar School, Belfast, with a scoreline of 3-09 v 2-02.  This is the College’s 2nd Oisin Mc Grath Title in 3 years narrowly losing out last year in the Final as well.

And then last night, the U-16 Team were crowned Rafferty Cup Winners against St. Patrick’s Keady. A brilliant performance from our lads, full of determination and sportsmanship resulting in the 2nd Ulster College’s Title to come to the school this week with a scoreline of 2-12 v 1-7.

Well done to both Teams and all the coaches involved – Mr Mc Girr & Mr O’ Neill for Year 8 ; and Mr Canavan & Mr Mc Keever for the U-16 Team.

And not to be outdone, the U-16 Girls had a brilliant win against St Catherine’s College placing the Team in the Ulster Semi-final with one game remaining.  A great success for the Team, Miss Gormley, Mr O’ Neill & Miss Mc Garrity.

And finally good luck to Eoin Mallon who is playing in the Junior European Open at Alcaidesca Golf Course in Spain.

A great production was performed yesterday to Post 16 students, courtesy of the Lyric Theatre called ‘Black Out’. The performance told the story of a young man’s experience of drugs, alcohol, being charged with assault and the consequences of these for his life. It was very hard hitting and an excellent performance – thanks to Mrs Quinn for organising the show.  And still on the theme of Internet Safety, Nexus addressed Years 8,9 and 10 about staying safe whilst surfing the Internet – thanks to Mrs Conway for organising these talks.

Everyone has settled into their classes again this week in preparation for the Christmas Exams.  These begin on Monday 4th and continue all week.  Don’t forget to download your revision guides and work hard to achieve success. Good Luck everyone in your exams – revision essential.

Have a great weekend
