Week 14

 Week 14 – Friday 8th December 2017

 Hello Everyone!

A quiet but very productive week as every pupil from Years 8 – 14 embarked on Christmas Exams.  Each pupil is so deserving of our praise – their application, attitude and behaviour towards the Exams, study or assignment preparation was exemplary. Boys and Girls, you are a real credit to your families and our school. Thank you for belonging to our school community.

However, the wintry weather conditions of today, has meant that the Exams will continue on Monday 11th, weather permitting. Deciding how to respond to poor weather is definitely one of my least favourite tasks.  No matter what decision we may take, it is likely to be criticised.  We will however, err on the side of caution and whilst Holy Trinity College will always endeavour to remain open, there may be occasions when we may have to consider a school closure. We will however, do our best to make the right decision and have the safety of our pupils and staff as the primary concern.

On Monday, the College had a visit from ETI re Shared Education Provision and our on-going collaborative work with Cookstown High School. The monitoring visit had a very positive outcome indicating that progression was evident with improving standards and outcomes, along with reconciliation and an increase in the number of pupils, staff and Departments involved in the Programme. Well done  to everyone involved in the Shared Education Programme.

Whilst the pupils were working hard at their Exams, I availed of the opportunity to visit many of our partner Primary Schools this week and see and hear about the great work occurring in the Primary Schools. Indeed, these visits are in preparation for our Taster Days and Open Night on Thursday 18th January and we look forward to meeting many of the P7 pupils during the month of January.

That’s all for now folks, and whilst a fairly quiet week, I would assume that all will be back to normal for next week with the usual busyness of life.

Be careful if you are travelling in the snow and frost and have a great weekend.
