week 15

 Week 15 – Friday 15th December 2017

 Hi There!

What a frosty week and I’ll be honest, the pressure of driving in those conditions every day has been quite draining.  Health & Safety of course is our priority for the pupils and staff – to ensure that footpaths and walkways are cleared and that everyone has a safe route to and from their classrooms.  A huge thanks to Paddy and Gerry for their diligent work in clearing the snow and ice.

As a result of the poor weather, the timeline for the completion of Exams and Report writing has been extended.  All pupil reports may not therefore, be ready for posting before the Christmas break.

With the theme of Keeping Our Bodies Healthy and Exercise, there were a number of activities scheduled this week re Action Cancer, and NI Chest, Heart & Stroke Association.   Wednesday was Christmas Jumper Day and proceeds from this went to the Marie Curie Cancer Care, a very worthwhile cause.  Indeed we were also fortunate on this day to have on display, the intricate patchwork of designs created by the late Mrs Mary Kelly.  Raffles were held during the week and all donations were forwarded to Marie Curie. A huge thanks to all the staff and pupils involved in organising these events.

The pupils and staff were treated to a very tasty Christmas Dinner on Wednesday – along with mouth-watering desserts as well. Mind you, the same occurred on Thursday again, so a double treat this week. Thank you to Jessica and the ladies in the Canteen  - over 1000 dinners served from 11.45 – 1.30pm – a great achievement, with everyone so appreciative of the lovely meal.  This happens all year long of course, so thanks to the Canteen staff for looking after our pupils so well and ensuring that they have healthy meals on a daily basis.

The School Project Team met yesterday again and the architectural plans for the new school build are really coming to the fore.  It is great when you can see where all the facilities are going to be located. The Plans will result in an awesome building upon completion.

Have a great weekend.
