Week 21

    Week 21 – Friday 2nd February 2018

    Hi There!

February already! And it’s great to see a little stretch in the mornings and evenings – the days are getting longer.

This week we celebrated Catholic Schools Week with the theme of Catholic Schools: Called to be a Family of Families which enabled us to reflect on and celebrate the relationship that exists between home, school and our parishes. Indeed the Theme is linked to the World Meeting of Families, which will be held in Dublin in August 2018.  The RE Department were also busy weaving rushes together to make St. Brigid’s Crosses, and the Music Department provided lovely music and song at 10.00 Mass on Wednesday. Well done to everyone involved in these events.

We are in the process of establishing a Junior Leadership Team in Years 8 – 10, so that all pupils will have an opportunity to voice their opinions on issues related to school and for forward planning. Training occurred this week for Year 8 with additional training for Years 9 & 10 next week. Our Intervention meetings are on-going with pupils to ensure success for Assessment 3 later in March and Year 8 are currently completing an Anti-Bullying Survey, the results of which will be known in the next few weeks.

Today was Number Day for the Maths Department and in aid of NSPCC. Year 8 had a very enjoyable afternoon with mental maths quizzes and jokes.

Well done to Year 14 who participated in a very valuable joint Interview Skills Day in Cookstown High School. The day consisted of completing job applications, aptitude tests, group tasks, job interviews with a range of business advisors followed by feedback. A huge thanks to our staff involved and to Eye for Education who delivered the event.

And Mr Boyle and Mr Bradley were delighted to join with our partner Primary Schools who participated in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscoil Thir Eoghain indoor competition. Congratulations to Holy Trinity PS who were the eventual winners.

Bye for now!
