Every effort is made to ease transition to secondary school and to ensure that all pupils can access the curriculum and the wide range of extra-curricular activities.  Our dedicated Newcomer Coordinator and Newcomer Support teacher liaise with the Inclusion and Diversity Service (EA and DENI) and all staff, to guarantee that pupils settle in well and progress personally and academically in school.  Practical measures such as parental engagement, partnering new pupils with a language buddy, programmes of appropriate support using the latest technology, liaison with the Interpreting Service and providing opportunities to celebrate different cultures and language in European language week ensure that our newcomer pupils are respected and valued and can readily participate in all aspects of school life.
