Hi Everyone
Assessment Week 2 began yesterday. I commend all students in all Year Groups so far. Their work ethic is shining through. No doubt, results will be amazing. Assessments continue until next Tuesday so keep the revision and work ethic going.
Whilst we have a wonderful Art Department in the school, Ms Mc Kee, Head of Art, has also decided to showcase her vast array of Art work in an Exhibition in the Burnavon Centre during the month of December – be sure to check this out – could be some brilliant Christmas presents available. Well done Miss!.
With the Exams over, Year 10 pupils enjoyed a visit to the Millenium Forum in Derry yesterday to see their panto, ‘Aladdin’. An enjoyable time was had by all.
The countdown is on to Christmas and to our School production of Frozen, the West End Musical. But whilst we are looking forward to the festivities, take time to explore the true meaning of Christmas and particularly, the season of Advent. The Pope John Paul II students have created a wonderful video on Day 5 of Advent, encouraging us to pause and carry out small acts of kindness. Check this out on our website.
It was great to see the Student Council avail of training to become ‘Take 5 Health & Well-Being Ambassadors’, promoting positive health and well-being, and mental health across our school community. Sincere thanks to Laura from the Northern Trust Emotional Wellbeing Team for taking time to work with our students and developing their leadership, communication and organisational skills as well.
Congratulations and thanks to our Year 14 Paired Readers who have given so much of their time during this Term to work alongside Year 8 pupils and support them in their Reading activities. Next Term it will be the turn of Year 13 – we continue to capacity build in all areas.
